Bariatric Surgery is Not for Everyone
Those believing this is merely a cosmetic weight-loss procedure are not ready for the long-term changes induced by weight-loss procedures. Surgical weight loss is a life-long journey of personal growth and opportunity. But failure to respect your body after surgery will result in little, if any, improvement. St. Alexius NewStart has many resources in place for your success before and after surgery.
Typically, patients wishing to undergo surgical weight loss must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 35 and 40. However, no two people are alike, and we all have unique bodies and conditions. If you’re experiencing a medical complication, known as a co-morbid condition, such as diabetes or high blood pressure as a result of your obesity, we may be able to help. Patients who are suffering from co-morbid conditions associated with their obesity can often have surgery with a BMI of 30 or above.
